I’ve been MIA for a while, I know. Again. I’ve been quite busy between the trek out to New England, which was largely uneventful (do remind me at some point to tell you the tale of accidently flushing my pee cup down the Laveo and having to perform toilet surgery in order to retrieve it) other than the extreme heat in Rhode Island, Gatsby’s absolute meltdowns (he’d been prescribed Prozac to help some of his anxiety, but it had the exact opposite effect we’d hoped for and instead exacerbated it to the Nth degree), and getting to my childhood home with my sister to find that the crime scene had not been cleaned up, to which when we heard the quotes of $25K (yes, that’s correct, twentyfivefuckingTHOUSAND dollars), we said fetch us a pail, some bleach, a dash of peroxide, and some gloves. The rest of my recent time has been consumed with two new jobs, one as bartender/head musical-golf-cart-rotator at the golf course so near and dear to my heart, and as a hostess/busser/general bosser-arounder at The Dock, just down the street from the golf course, where Jack is now the assistant manager. The schedule leaves everyone in the household with a little less oomph than we’d like (Gatsby especially hates Thursdays – Sunday now, even though on two of the days he gets to go stay with his Papa and Nana for the duration, and on the other days, his Uncle Rob comes to visit him), but since none of my hobby-jobs pay me significantly (YET), we’ve gotta do what we’ve gotta do. The rest of the time is spent trying to dehumidify the basement, and get the yard as in shape as it’s going to get this year (it has potential, but is going to take another 6 weeks of manpower and sunlight. An overnight rain shower or seventeen would also be appreciated since I’m pretty sure all my paychecks are going to the water bill this month). Speaking of hobby-jobs, that’s another thing that has taken up my time and effort during my time off: www.etsy.com/shop/KikiMaplesArt It would certainly be easier if I could have a variety of pictures for each item and have people mix and match what image they want on which item, but that’s now how that cookie crumbles (or if it does, I’m not intelligent enough to figure out how), so for right now, it’s just leg work and getting the first foot on the ground. We do have a little adventure coming up next week, since Green Bay RAM FINALLY GOT THE PART TO FIX THE VAN LEAK!!!! Well, the factory leak coming in from the rear doors. The gullwing panels are another story completely, and I think I’m going to talk to the local autobody shop to see if they can come up with a more permanent solution to that. At any rate, we’ll be heading down to Green Bay next week, with an overnight at the golf course that first captured my heart, North Shore! Fingers crossed for the right kind of adventures. Keep you posted.
